Stoked to be part of this one. This coastal renovation in North Beach came with a clear vision from the client, a bright, modern outdoor space that felt relaxed and tied naturally into the home's existing tones. The end result is exactly that.

We poured a Geostone Holcim Wattle White exposed aggregate across the entertaining area. Wattle White is a great blend for coastal homes. The pale stone sits well against rendered walls and natural landscaping, stays cooler underfoot than darker finishes on hot Perth days, and gives the whole space a clean, open feel without trying too hard.

Once the pour was done and cured, we sealed the surface to lock in the colour, bring out the depth of the stone, and protect it from the salt air that comes with being close to the coast. North Beach properties cop a fair bit of exposure, so getting the sealing right matters for the long run.

The feature that really pulls this project together is the custom off-form curved concrete bench seat wrapping around the firepit. Off-form work is where concrete gets interesting. The raw formed surface becomes the finished face, which means the formwork has to be spot on before anything gets poured. There is no fixing it after the fact. The curve adds flow and warmth to the space, and the clean raw finish on the seat plays nicely against the aggregate underfoot without the two competing.

The whole space has that relaxed, elevated feel that good outdoor entertaining areas are supposed to have. A project we are genuinely proud of.
